Explore the Future of Medicine at the ATS AI Lab

2–3 minutes

Artificial intelligence is transforming how we discover, diagnose, and deliver care. At the ATS 2026 International Conference, attendees can explore these rapidly evolving technologies firsthand at the ATS AI Lab Exposition Space, a new innovation showcase located in the Exhibit Hall. Created as part of ATS’s multi-year commitment to digital transformation, the AI Lab brings together clinicians, researchers, trainees, and industry leaders to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

ATS member Barbara Jones, MD, MSCI, University of Utah and VA, Salt Lake City, studies informatics tools and their impact on clinical decision support and guideline implementation at the bedside. “I think it’s really exciting because artificial intelligence has the potential to really accelerate the guideline development process,” she said. “AI can provide the evidence summaries that are really robust and objective, that are going to help clinicians and clinical experts sift through that evidence base in an objective way.”

As AI accelerates scientific discovery and influences clinical practice, the AI Lab provides a centralized space where attendees can learn how these technologies work, see how they are applied in real-world settings, and consider how they may shape the future of respiratory care.

ATS 2026 Orlando attendees who visit the AI Lab can experience curated sessions on foundational AI literacy and real-world applications of large language models, insights into model development and reporting standards (such as TRIPOD-AI and CONSORT-AI), hands-on learning opportunities at pop-up education stations designed to highlight practical applications, and opportunities to connect directly with AI developers, innovators, and industry leaders.

The AI Lab reflects ATS’s broader strategy to prepare the respiratory community for the next era of scientific discovery. By creating a space dedicated to artificial intelligence, ATS aims to strengthen the connection between emerging technologies and patient outcomes while encouraging collaboration across disciplines.

The initiative is supported by the ATS AI Task Force, which works to ensure the responsible and ethical integration of artificial intelligence across ATS programs and activities.

Visit the AI Lab in the Exhibit Hall at ATS 2026 to explore how AI is shaping the future of respiratory medicine — and to imagine what is possible.
