Two sessions on Sunday, May 19, will provide a forum to discuss some of the cutting-edge research recently published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Medical Association.
AJRCCM, JAMA, NEJM Discussions on the Edge: Reports of Recently Published Pulmonary Research will be held from 9:15-11:15 am PT in Ballroom 20A (Upper Level) of the San Diego Convention Center. NEJM, JAMA, AJRCCM Discussions on the Edge: Reports of Recently Published Critical Care Research will follow in the afternoon, from 2:15-4:15 p.m., in the same location.
“Our aim is to bring the best clinical research in both pulmonary and critical care medicine to our readers and those who attend these sessions at the ATS International Conference,” explained New England Journal of Medicine deputy editor and session chair Darren B. Taichman, MD, PhD. “We choose papers that will be of great interest to and affect the practice of pulmonary and critical care physicians.”
Each session will feature author presentations on recent publications selected by the journal editors for their significance to the specialty being addressed. The audience will have the opportunity to pose questions directly to the authors and editors.
Through these discussions, attendees will further their understanding of the published research, including its direct application to critical care and pulmonary medicine, as well as the selection process for publication.
“NEJM has been thrilled to host these sessions with our colleagues for years now, and we hope they continue to be valuable to ATS attendees,” Dr. Taichman said.
George T. O’Connor, MD; Fernando J. Martinez, MD, MS; and Dr. Taichman will chair the session on pulmonary medicine.
Laurent J. Brochard, MD; Christopher W. Seymour, MD, MSc; and Dr. Taichman will chair the session on critical care medicine.
