Refractory chronic cough (RCC) is a disease identified in a subset of people who experience chronic cough (lasting > 8 weeks) despite adequate treatment of cough-related etiologies.1-3 RCC may be associated with neuronal hypersensitivity, which is driven by the dysregulation of cough-signaling components.3-9
The pathway to diagnosis of RCC is complex and often lengthy, with numerous specialist visits, prolonged diagnostic testing, and trials of therapies.10,11 Increased awareness of RCC may support earlier identification and diagnosis of individuals living with RCC.10
Come join GSK Medical to learn more about a mechanism behind RCC, as well as guideline-based steps to diagnosing and recognizing RCC in the clinic.
- Symposium at Innovation Theater 8 on Tuesday, May 19th from 1:00-1:30 PM: Attend our expert-led discussion “Improving Refractory Chronic Cough Identification: Real-World Insights on the Patient Journey”. Experts Michael Ghobrial, MD and Joseph K Han, MD, FARS, FAAAAI will discuss recent real-world data from the United States on prevalence, key clinical characteristics of patients, and treatment patterns that reveal persistent unmet needs.
